Let’s talk gift ideas

Since Christmas is right around the corner let’s talk about some gift ideas I came up with to share! (none take more than two days to make)

  • Crochet
    1. Purse
    2. Water bottle holder
    3. Hat
    4. Bucket hat
    5. Tote bag
    6. Ornament
    7. Scarf
    8. Party bottle holder

These ideas are things that don’t need specific sizing or measurements. You can come up with creative ideas and have fun!! Here are some suggestions for each specific gift to help your creative juices flow.

PURSE: granny square purse with 6 granny squares— check Pinterest for inspo. Small rectangle purse with a toggle.

WATER HOLDER: start with magic circle, increase for a few rows until it’s the same size as the bottom of a water bottle, stop increasing and crochet several rows so it creates a bowl like look, crochet grid section for 4 ish inches (Dc, ch. 1 sk next st, Dc), then crochet a few rows of same st pattern you used for the bottom & lastly look up how to make a long strap to attach to it!

HAT: look back into my crochet a beanie post because I explain well how to make the best looking beanie! You can even add a fluff ball on top!

BUCKET HAT: there are many YouTube videos that can help you make one but you can even make pattern ones or fuzzy ones! Checkered and fuzzy are really popular right now.

TOTE: this can be sooo similar to a water bottle holder if you want it to be. There are other patterns and videos but the tote I’m talking about is basically the same as a water bottle holder but with a long oval bottom instead of a circle.

ORNAMENTS: Crochet over a ornament ball, snowflakes, mini winter hat, skates, Christmas tree and there are more ideas on Pinterest if theses don’t interest you.

SCARF: these are so easy to make! You can make a striped one, cool stitched one, fuzzy scarf even which would be great for people who are outdoors for long periods of time. I even think the smaller blanket material would be good too or velvet!

PARTY BOTTLE HOLDER: this is basically the same as a water bottle holder but much bigger. I would say a completely solid stitch is best because when the person using the holder is bringing it to their party, it’ll look nicer if it’s all solid AND leave everyone’s imagination open for what drink they brought! You can add a detachable strap to the holder too so the person carrying it has free hands.

I started knitting!!

I may not have many gift ideas for knitting but a hat is a good place to start! Knitting has proven to be harder to figure out. I want to knit a sweater but am having a hard time figuring out how to make it with less panels. I love the look of the Knit stitch and have made 1 hat so far. It looked sooo cute but since I’m so new it was a bit small:/ I’ve been practicing since so I can make even better hats! I’ll share more of what I learn on this new journey. (Also in the pic above, this is the tote bag I made to carry my yarn around in. I LOVE it and use it every day!)

With care,

Alyssa
