Something I learned making all the gifts I made was that practicing a small patch of the stitch you want to use with the yarn you want to use is very beneficial for crochet.
I made a sweatshirt for my boyfriend and used a stitch that was less airy when I used it for my dads sweater vest BUT I used different yarns for each project. If I would’ve known my boyfriends hoodie would have been more airy using the stitch, I would’ve chosen a different stitch to use or even used a lower hook #.

If you’re making crochet clothes, my best advice would be practice a small square with the stitch and yarn before you actually start the project. This way you can figure out how you want it all to look before you get halfway through.
With care,
Alyssa
