For some time I’ve been wanting a non-see-through tank top to wear. I made 2 different styles so far which helped me realize how awesome the slip stitch stitch is!
Just slip stitching in the back loop of each stitch creates a ribbed look. It’s typically used for sleeve cuffs, bottoms of sweaters, or even the neckline.
I have never tried to use the slip stitch for anything other than the rib/cuff sections of the things I make… until now!
I realized this stitch resembles knitting and I haven’t found my pace in knitting yet so I set knitting aside for a little. I used the recommended hook for this yarn which made this top quite loose. I would say size down a hook or two from the recommended size so your top is more solid and fits a bit better on.
You can’t tell in the photo that this top is a bit big but it is. The stitching is honestly too stretchy to fit the way I wanted it to but I will hopefully try to make another one soon!
I hope this inspired you to use the slip stitch for more than just ribbing/cuffing!
With care,
Alyssa
